About Mr Arroyo

Mr Steven Arroyo started training in Taekwon-Do in Aberdeen under Grand Master Gordon Wallace in April 2000. Since moving to East Sussex and attaining his black belt in 2003 he began training with the England National Team where he was selected to
represent the country at the European and World Championships in 2004.  From 2004 - 2011 he represented England travelling around the world competing at many different international events with some success.

In 2006 Mr Arroyo won gold at the Junior World Championships held in Honduras in 2 nd  degree patterns at the age of 17.  In 2007 he was moved to the senior division where he won the 2007 European Championships held in Slovakia.  He was again successful in winning the European Championships as a 2 nd degree in 2009 in Benidorm. In this year he was nominated by the Courier newspaper as a candidate for Sports Award for Sussex/Surrey where he was successful in winning and becoming 2009 Sports Personality of the Year.  In 2010 Mr Arroyo travelled to Slovakia again for the European Cup where he was successful in winning his event this time as a 3rd Degree.


In 2009 Mr Arroyo began teaching for his instructor and coach Master Philip Lear of Vision Taekwon-Do in East Sussex and
Surrey.  During his time teaching he was promoted to 4th Degree in 2012 and continued to compete as well as coach students at local and international events until 2013.

 

In 2015 Mr Arroyo became qualified as an International Instructor and created Affinity TKD teaching classes in Lewes and Heathfield, teaching basic Taekwon-Do and life skills to 3-6-year-olds and Taekwon-Do to 7-12yrs and adults.


In July 2018 Mr Arroyo was promoted to 5th Degree and later in 2019 he took over the running on Uckfield Taekwon-Do from his
examiner Master Lear. He continues to train regularly in Tunbridge Wells under Mr Luke Thompson 6th Degree.
